Cosmetic and Personal Care Industries
Cosmetic products are not expected to be aseptic but certain microorganisms can cause spoilage or chemical changes which can injure the user. They should be free of pathogens, contain low numbers of aerobic microorganisms, and be formulated to withstand abuse from the user. Pathogens and opportunistic pathogens of concern include Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
We have an outstanding microbiology department that routinely tests for sterility, antimicrobial effectiveness, microbial limits, enumeration, and absence of specified microorganisms including pathogens and opportunistic pathogens. We also offer method validation for your products based on Validation of Microbial recovery from Pharmacopeial articles
or Validation of Alternative Microbiological Methods
.
Our analytical services include; USP/NF monograph testing; method validation for your product matrices including lab test methods and equipment applications; stability testing; active ingredient monitoring; contaminate monitoring; ingredient monitoring; and quality assessment.
Our many years of experience and technical expertise can also assist with determining the effectiveness of your preservative system, general research studies, and product development. We follow current standard methods such as: AOAC, FDA-BAM, CMMEF, and USP/NF. If standard methods are not available to meet your needs we can partner with you to research, develop, and implement one that will.
