As of August 18, 1994 for food products, and March 23, 1999 for herbal supplements, non-exempt companies have been required to comply with the FDA nutritional label requirements outlined by the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act (NLEA). The FDA amended its food labeling laws to include the requirement of nutrition and ingredient labeling according to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994.
